DAY THIRTEEN: SAMPRAN RIVERSIDE

We checked out of KU Home and traveled to Sampran Riverside in Nakhorn Pathom province. Sampran Riverside is an "eco-cultural" destination here in Thailand.

We went on a tour of the facility, first visiting the agriculture and crops they grow there. We enjoyed taste testers of traditional Thai teas and fruit. Then we were able to go to some of the "art & craft" workshops which are considered traditional Thai activities. I was able to make a fish out of banana leaves, learn a traditional Thai dance, make an elephant out of clay, and throw a pot on a manual wheel. I'm really excited about all of them!

After our crafts, we attended an elephant show. I won't comment on that because you've already heard that rant once. Then we watched a Thai Village Cultural Show which we all fell asleep during -- Sue included, so I won't comment much on that.

We then traveled to Kamphaeng Saen Campus and checked into the dorm.

After dinner, the girls and I decided to go "lizard hunting" in search of a water monitor. We didn't see one, but one slid into the water right next to us! Needless to say, we freaked out.

For those that don't know, water monitors are the second largest lizards in the world. They can get up to 3 meters in length! They carnivorous, but not large enough to take on a human. They're actually rather skittish.

Katie, Claire, and I went to bed that night with promises that we would wake up early to try to spot one before the day started.
